What we aimed for

This website was built to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA. That is the standard most commonly referenced in the United States for public-facing websites.

What is in place

• Semantic HTML with one main heading per page and no skipped heading levels
• A skip link to jump straight to the main content
• Visible focus outlines on every interactive element
• Full keyboard operation, including the mobile menu, which closes with Escape
• Descriptive alternative text on every meaningful image, and empty alt on decorative ones
• Text and background colours checked against the WCAG AA contrast ratios
• Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide
• Text that can be resized to 200 percent without loss of content
• Animation that stops entirely when your system is set to reduce motion
• The scrolling motto band is hidden from screen readers and replaced with plain text
• Content that still works with JavaScript turned off
• Form-free design, so there are no unlabelled inputs anywhere

Known limitations

Being straight with you is more useful than a clean claim.

• The embedded map. The Google Maps frame on the contact page is Google's code, not ours, and its accessibility is outside our control. Every piece of information in the map, including the full address and a directions link, is also written out as text on the same page.
• Photograph quality. Some of the practice's photographs are old and low resolution. They are described in alt text, and they are being replaced.
• Testing. The site has been checked by hand for keyboard access, heading structure, contrast and reflow. It has not yet been through a full audit with assistive technology users.

Accessibility in the office

The office is Suite 204, on the second floor at 155 Polifly Road, in a lift-served office building with parking directly in front.

If you need step-free access, an accessible restroom, a ground-floor arrangement, extra time, a quiet wait away from the main room, or a sign language or spoken language interpreter, call the office before your visit on (201) 525-0214 and we will make the arrangements. There is no charge for any of it.
